For what it's worth, the gentleman is _not_ correctly paraphrasing what
I told him, when he consulted me in private mail.

The greater part of what I said to him was:  I advised him that he
should listen to your good advice about package management and you were
correct on that point.  Moreover, I cited where I've been giving that
same advice for decades, such as when I was a technical editor for
_Linux Gazette_, over many long years:

He persists in arguing against the need for packaging for particular
system software.  I said I was not going to repeat myself, but wished
him good luck.  (Which I wholeheartedly do.)

Thank you for Artix, a distribution I don't (yet) use, but do admire and
support.
