No. Pacman creates .pacsave files when you remove some programs. Search
for 'pacsave' in pacman(8).
Basically, packages can set certain files which should be saved upon
removal. Usually, these are configuration files. I'm not sure why you
had to do it after an upgrade though. Usually upgrades would create
'.pacnew' files, which you can apply using pacdiff(8).
In any case, I would recommend using something like vimdiff(1) to see
the changes and apply them one at a time.
