Hi !
The predecessor of current netctl on Arch was netcfg. It was neat, providing profiles support as currently netctl on Arch does. By quickly reading [1] and [2] I see references to networkmanager (I've always stayed away from it) and netifrc. But if netcfg is available that might be the option for someone so familiar with netcfg/netctl profiles. But most importantly, if netcfg is available, is it actually maintained? If available but without being maintained it might a bad idea actually to even install it...
Greetings !
