Its wrong in this case because the packages are broken. There isno
place for absolutes in IT
In this case, what I wrote is correct and it will NEVER create a
problem, however, when you inisist on downgrading icu ou break one set
of applications, and when you run the current version you break another
set of programs.
The ICU library is a font library. It has no impact on the core
stability but it did screw up a litney of programs including postfix.
If the packages were built correctly to begin with, the ICU upgrade
would had triggered a litney conflicts, and it didn't. It is common,
especially for developers to have multiple versions of libraries. I
have three versions of GCC alone in order tocompile different AI
projects that I wrote. There are mutple perl versions as well because
of different tools needing versions which had depaciated calls. Same
with Glib and gnome.
Additionally, package management completely fails wen you are doing
development work.
